Little Explorers Community Connections Program
The Little Explorers Community Connections program is at the heart of our approach, encouraging children to step outside the classroom and engage with their surroundings. Through this program, children participate in regular excursions to local parks, farms, beaches and other community spaces, learning about the environment, local culture and the people who live in their community. These excursions are designed to help children develop a sense of place and belonging, while also building confidence, independence and social skills.

Our centre nurtures the whole child—head, heart, and hands. This means that while academic learning is important, equal emphasis is placed on emotional growth, creativity, and practical skills. Our curriculum integrates art, music, movement, and storytelling into subjects like math and science to make learning vibrant and engaging. Children are encouraged to love learning through exploration and imagination, creating a foundation for lifelong curiosity and confidence.
2. How to you create play based learning?
We believe in honouring the natural developmental stages of childhood. Academics take root gradually, allowing children to build strong pre-academic skills through play, artistic activities, and practical tasks in the early years. For example, children learn to write before they read, and this process starts with storytelling, drawing, and exploring the shapes of letters. This gentle approach fosters a deeper understanding of language when it naturally blossoms, producing eager and capable readers and writers.
3. What is the role of creativity in our rooms?
Creativity is woven into every aspect of our rooms. Free Kindergarten at Waldorf Little Learners
At Waldorf Little Learners, we understand how important these early years are in shaping a child’s educational journey. That’s why we provide a warm and nurturing environment where young children can grow, explore, and thrive. We’re also delighted to share that Queensland families now have access to free kindy, ensuring every child starts their education with the support they deserve.
What is Kindy?
Kindergarten, or “kindy,” is a part-time program designed for children in the year before they begin Prep. It’s a wonderful opportunity for children to build friendships, strengthen their love for learning, and develop the skills they need for a seamless transition into school life.
Kindy programs run for 15 hours per week, over 40 weeks each year. These free programs are open to Queensland children attending a government-approved kindergarten program, giving families the assurance of high-quality early education at no cost.
Flexible Options to Suit Your Family
Kindy can be part of either sessional or long day care kindergarten settings, offering flexibility depending on your family’s needs.
Sessional kindy operates during school hours each term, providing a rhythmical, focused structure.
Long day care services incorporate a kindy program into extended-hours care, which offers additional convenience for busy families.
Both options provide children with the same beautifully crafted Waldorf-inspired approach to learning that encourages creativity, connection, and a love of discovery.
